Some of our students are in need of the most basic tool that will help them succeed, FOOD. Modeling other programs nationwide, the PTSA has started a backpack program. The program is driven solely by food or monetary donations, which include gift cards to grocery stores.
Some of our students are in need of the most basic tool that will help them succeed, FOOD. Modeling other programs nationwide, the PTSA has started a backpack program. The program is driven solely by food or monetary donations, which include gift cards to grocery stores.
THE BACKPACKS
The backpack program provides students in need with nutritious meals of breakfast, lunch, and healthy snacks, on weekends and school breaks. The pack includes 8 items per week; 2 breakfast items, 2 lunch items, 2 snacks, and 2 juice boxes. During school breaks the backpacks include 33 to 35 food items. Families rely on the program and to assist students with staying well nourished during weekends and school breaks.
